Environmental, Health & Safety

Glenman Corporation Ltd is committed to the highest standards of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) performance across all our operations. EHS is a core business value and we are committed to providing a safe and healthy work place and to minimise harm to the environment as a prerequisite to our operations.To this end we are committed to continuous improvement in our EHS performance.

 

In order to achieve this aim we have put in place a comprehensive management system for managing Environmental, Safety, Health and Welfare throughout all areas of our operations to meet our statutory obligations to employees, contractors and members of the general public alike. We  have maintained an enviable record during a period of considerable growth and our EHS team leave no stone unturned in ensuring the continuation of our high standards. We view our recent ISO 14001:2004 & OHSAS 18001: 2007 certification as an endorsement of the high standards to which we have always aspired.

 

All sites are regularly audited by our Environmental, Health & Safety team in order to ensure compliance with the systems and procedures; audit results are reviewed and immediate corrective action taken if and when required. Regular reviews are then undertaken at senior management level of audit result and performance and measures implemented to achieve continuous improvement. Glenman has managed works safely during a period of growth and expansion and has in place the experience, staff, methods and procedures to continue doing so in the future.

 

Glenman have been appointed Main Contractor on one of the two national schools to be built to a Passive House standard in Ireland this year. It is hoped that this will be the next generation low energy school project. Passive Energy for schools shall mean; a high level of insulation, an airtight envelope   (< 0.9m³/sec/m² @ 50 Pa), a compact build, an efficient heating / mechanical ventilation & the avoidance of thermal bridging. The project is due for completion in March 2012.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Glenman Corporation Ltd is aware of the huge responsibility and impact we have as an organisation working in the construction industry today. To this extent we have developed a comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy.

 

We are committed to ensuring all our stakeholders, customers, suppliers, environment, communities & employees are treated with the utmost respect, trust and integrity.

Customers: In order to retain our existing & attract new customers we are committed to providing the best service ‘first time, every time’.

Suppliers: Our first objective is to support local suppliers, build on existing relationships & create new ones thus supporting the local community.

Environment: In addition to maintaining our OHSAS 18001: 2007 accreditation we are committed to the reduction of waste, the reuse & recycling of as much waste material as possible, the prevention of waste at design stage and the better control of material resulting in less wastage.

Communities: Glenman actively encourage our staff’s voluntary involvement in the local community and continue to donate to and support as many charities in any way possible.

Employees: Glenman promotes good working conditions & practises in order to retain & motivate existing staff, to attract new staff and to reduce accidents.
